HBS Summer School in the First Week of 2017
Dear HBF alumni and partner organizations!
We are happy to invite you to participate in our first Heinrich-Boell Foundation Summer School during the first week of 2017. The Summer School has been designed to provide our current scholarship holders with profound background information on the green movement, green politics and the foundation's background and mission. But we can offer up to 16 HBF alumni and staff of our partner organizations places in this in-depth classroom.
With Lili Fuhr and Anna Cavazzini we have won two excellent speakers for this training. Lili is heading HBF's Ecology and Sustainable Development Department in Berlin. She is a well-known expert in the field and has authored or co-authored a number of publications, inter alia recently the highly regarded HBF publication "Inside the Green Economy - Promises and Pitfalls". Anna is spokesperson of the Federal Working Group on European Affairs of the German Green Party, was head of the drafting group of the Green Program for the 2014 European Elections and Member of the Green Futures Commission. Our alumni and current PhD candidate of the University of Australia, Nwe Kay Khine will be moderating the Summer School.
Please find attached a draft program here:
As you can see, the school is designed in a modular way. Topics include all issues with great relevance to green politics, the background of the green movement and the work of our Foundation. We intend to give participants an in-depth introduction to green philosophy, political thinking and policy-making. Concrete formats are yet to be decided upon but the training modules will be inter-active rather than lectures. Presentations will be complemented by group discussions, role plays, films and other methods of teaching. Evening activities are planned to promote networking among participants and also just for having fun!
Our summer school will be free of charge. Participants will be selected on a first-come-first-serve basis but applications should be binding. To avoid no-shows we have to charge an application fee of 50,000MMK per person or organization. This fee will have to be paid before 15 December 2016 and will be reimbursed after having completed the course. Given the limited number of places we recommend to act swiftly! Teaching language will be English, so a sound command of English a prerequisite.
For applications, please send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
